I’m not much of a phone person, so it’s easy to put off making necessary calls for appointments and task completion. I don’t know about you, but whenever I pick up the phone, every argument known to man breaks out between the kids. Oy. It’s not fun. That’s why I avoid the phone calling.

But if I don’t get it done, I will regret having to deal with the consequences.

Today I spent some time making calls about a broken footboard as well as making an appointment or two. Oh! And I called to ask some questions about getting the garage door opener fixed.

Hopefully I can avoid the phone for a while again.

Because we have a young dog, there are occasionally toys that get destroyed and need some TLC. The Captain’s stuffed dog lost a nose and I promised him I’d try to fix it. There was also a hat belonging to The Mercenary and a couple of pillows belonging to the younger boys.

All of them had been sitting in a pile.

Staring at me.

I was feeling the guilt and stress over ignoring them.

So today I got out my needle and thread and solved the problem!

I even fixed his ear. The Captain wasn’t pleased, but the best I could do ended up making his cute little doggie a bit rough and tough and hard to diaper.

Now I need to figure out some time to do those Scout patches. Bleh.

Overcoming Job Obstacles Can Make Life More Organized

November 18, 2010

So I’ve been wanting to have a newsletter for one of my other websites for a long time. Months. I finally sat down and started working on it last week and quickly got so stuck that I saved the file with the title “this is stupid I hate this process”. Trust me, those are strong [...]

Get the Lawn Trimmed Before Snow

November 17, 2010

So today I mowed the lawn. In November. I don’t know when I’ve ever done that before…usually the last mowing of the year happens in October and then I throw up my hands and declare yardwork over. This year though, the weather has been unusually mild and the grass has continued to grow. Plus a [...]

Put Outdoor Equipment Away Before Winter

November 15, 2010

Winter is fast approaching here in Michigan. I don’t like to leave toys or equipment out to be ravaged by the weather, so one of the necessary jobs around here is picking up the lawn. And then the weather warms up, the kids get the toys out, and we have to pick up the lawn [...]

Let Go of Old Projects

November 15, 2010

Remember yesterday’s post where we talked about taking steps to finish old projects? It’s also important to assess some of those old ideas laying around and if you’re not ever going to do the work, get rid of it. Yes, you’re losing money on the deal. But. Now you’re getting out from under the guilt [...]

Meet Deadlines with Paperwork

November 14, 2010

Every fall Hubby has to re-enroll in the health benefits plan for his employer. There are other milestones he has to hit during the year to keep our costs down, but this one is a biggie. The envelope usually comes a week or so before the enrollment period. It’s difficult to remember to log on [...]

Take Steps on Old Projects

November 13, 2010

We moved into this house over ten years ago. It was new construction, and one of the rooms left to us to do was the entryway. It took a loooooooong time, but we got the room drywalled, painted, and the floor finished. We even got most of the trim stained and installed. What did not [...]

Clear Clutter, Get Real Estate

November 12, 2010

I’ve been putting books, toys, and sundry into boxes to sell at garage sales for several months now. When I have the chance to sell things, I do. I cut the pile down by half last April, then dealt it another serious dent in June. Some friends of mine invited me to another sale for [...]

Sort Your Coupons

November 12, 2010

Saving money with coupons is a good thing. Keeping the coupons organized takes some regular effort though. I get the coupons every Sunday, so job #1 is to cut them out. This part is easy. It’s also easy to put the coupons into an organizer (just not as much fun as playing with the scissors). [...]
